Central Government launched Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) on 1st May 2016 for women of poor families of India. Under this scheme, poor women will get free LPG gas connections.

The main objective of this scheme is to implement the scheme in view of the women of the rural areas and for the purpose of facilitating them, and one of the main objectives of this scheme is to promote women’s empowerment and also to protect their health.

Apply for Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY)

Eligibility for Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY)

• You must have a BPL ration card to get the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY). Then you can come into its eligibility.
• The applicants whose names are not in this eligibility will not get a gas connection.
• The name of which you are receiving this plan should be 18 years or more.
• The applicant should be a woman related to the BPL family, men can not apply for this scheme.
• There should be no LPG connection in the applicant’s house by anyone.
• Applicant must have BPL certificate or BPL ration card.
• All information provided by the applicant in the application form should be rectified.
• State Government and Union Territories will prepare the list of eligible BPL families for the scheme.
• Oil business companies will match the information of all rural applicants who apply for this scheme with the database of SECC-2011 and then only will they provide gas connections.

Ujjwala scheme is not for all women. If you get your name from the list below, you will not get the benefits of the scheme.

• Those who have motor powered two wheels.
• Tricycle and four wheeled vehicle machine driven three and four wheeled agricultural equipment.
• Kisan credit card of standard limit of 50 thousand and above
  Family member.
• Income tax payers exceeding 10 thousand months income of family members registered with non-farm industry.
• Three or more rooms of a professional tax payer, a firm house in the refrigerator.
• Landline phones family 2.5 acres or more irrigated land.

How to apply

• A woman of BPL family can apply for the nearest LPG distributor for a new LPG connection (in the prescribed format).
• While presenting the application, the woman has the base number of all the members of the bank account and all the members to present detailed address.
•  After the action on the connection application, OMCs will issue eligible beneficiaries.
• In case the consumer chooses for the EMI. The EMI amount will be adjusted on subsidy amount due to the consumer on each refill.
