OROP stands for One Rank One Pension. Government has started the One rank One pension scheme the aim of facilitating retired military personnel.
According to the Navbharat Times, the cabinet had approved the implementation of the one rank one pension on 25th September 2012 for Retired Army personnel, but it government could not implement it that time. the people had hope from prime minister of India.

- According to this OROP pension scheme, the inequality of pension among the military personnel will eliminate.
- Under this scheme government has taken decision that in case of death of a soldier his family will get 60% of his pension in place of 30%.
- Person who is in civil services can also take benefits of this pension from both side.
- According to this scheme, if child of a soldier is mentally weak then he can take advantage of the scheme after marriage.
Objectives Of OROP (One Rank One Pensions Plan )
There are following objectives of OROP-
- The people demand for the scheme in 2013 and the scheme is effective from 1 July 2014.
- Authorities received the recognition of One Rank One Pension Scheme in the form of base year as on 1st April 2014 and 2015.
- Nearly three lakh soldiers will get benefit under the One Rank One Pension Scheme.
- The outstanding amount will be found at once.
- All the widows and also including war widows will be get four half-year installments.
- The first installment has been paid and the payment of the second installment is due.
- The estimated cost of the plan is from 8000 to 10000 crores.
- The government has already announced that the soldiers who retire willingly will not get benefits of pension under the OROP.
